26.11.2009 - Coningsby Lane

On the morning of Monday November 9 pipe clearance contractors engaged by Streetcare took a first step towards dealing with Report items 3 and 5. Simon Lavin of Streetcare was in attendance to direct operations as they began with pipes in Coningsby Lane.

Two 100mm diameter pipes crossing the access to The Mulberrys from Coningsby Lane were cleaned. Two short sections of pipework on the south side of Coningsby Lane in the vicinity of the electricity substation were cleaned and no defects found. The pipe along the western boundary of Parkside was cleaned. CCTV showed the first metre or so as 225mm diameter reducing to 150mm - rather too small to be effective in extreme conditions. The 300mm pipe along the eastern verge of Coningsby Lane north of Forest Green Road was jetted and found to be clean. The 900mm diameter culvert along the eastern side of Fifield Road in the vicinity of Longlea was cleaned. CCTV indicated this was sound and only a small quantity of debris remained in the upstream end.

The Environment group have expressed their gratitude to Simon Lavin for taking our representations seriously and initiating prompt action.
