Children's services rated 'Good', as Ofsted inspectors praise 'Outstanding' help for Care Leavers

Our Children’s services are rated as ‘good’, with the experience and progress of Care Leavers recognised as ‘outstanding’ in the latest inspection by Ofsted.

Following a two week-long inspection in October, their report concluded that the council had successfully turned previous areas of weakness into areas of strength - thanks to an experienced and consistent leadership team who are focused on what children and young people need to succeed and celebrate the diversity and uniqueness of all children across the borough.

We’re inviting residents and business owners to have their say on the draft document that will help inform planning decisions for Ascot, including the future of the High Street.

The draft Supplementary Planning Document contains potential options for how the High Street might be improved, ways of achieving better walking and cycling connectivity, and a series of improvements to local infrastructure to support new development.

It also includes a number of design principles to guide new development in the village centre, including ensuring it is coordinated, a clear layout of streets and spaces to ease movement and access, a network of green infrastructure, open spaces and places where the community can live and spend time together.

Maidenhead Christmas Market and Lights Switch-on. Christmas market now in the Desborough Theatre. From 11am Saturday 23 November 2024

Update from from Maidenhead Christmas Lights Switch-on event

A yellow warning for rain has been issued affecting much of the south of England this weekend, including the possibility of high winds.

Our magical Christmas Light Switch-on event in Maidenhead will still be going ahead from 11am on 23 November. To ensure everyone enjoys the event safely, we’ve made some changes:

  • The Festive Market will now be held inside Maidenhead Town Hall, with stalls, music and entertainment inside our Desborough Theatre from 11am

  • Our programme of live music and entertainment accompanying the Christmas Lights Switch-on will start at the later time of 4.30pm on our Town Hall Live Stage on St Ives Road. For safety reasons, this year’s countdown will not include a fireworks display

We wish everyone a fantastic day! Follow our MakeMaidenhead page on Facebook for the latest updates and don’t forget to share your best photos with the hashtag #MyFestiveRoyalBorough

Two Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Community Wardens sharing information about anti-social behaviour and community safety at a table in Maidenhead Library

ASB Awareness Week

During this week’s Anti-social Behaviour Awareness Week, our Community Wardens have been holding community engagement stands and doing extra patrols in parks and open spaces across the borough.

They are supported by our Control Room, Housing Service and Customer Services team who all work year round to keep our residents safe.

Examples of antisocial behaviour that should be reported to the council include vandalism, graffiti, rowdy inconsiderate behaviour, nuisance neighbours, fly-tipping or posting, dog related anti-social behaviour, and misuse of communal and public areas.

Offensive and threatening behaviour, speeding and anti-social behaviour involving a vehicle, drug use and dealing, or a dog behaving aggressively should be reported to the police on 101, or on 999 in an emergency.

Learn more about reporting anti-social behaviour on our anti-social behaviour page or by calling our Community Safety Team on 01628 685636.
