03.01.14 - Update Report 15 – Christmas 2013 Events

On Saturday November 23rd we organised our
3rd Annual Christmas Fair. Bill Collier was the main Organiser again this year – and we had a wide range of Stalls selling lots of unusual gift ideas for Christmas - including hand made Jewellery, Sweets and Cakes, Candles, Toys, Wellbeing Products and Cards. There was also an Exhibition of the fantastic work of Local Artists who go along to the very popular Art Classes on Mondays and Tuesdays in Braywood Memorial Hall.

On December 7th, we put up a Christmas Tree on Fifield “Village Green”. We are all very grateful to John Train Plants of Oakley Green Road who donated the Tree again this year. We are also grateful to Bray Parish Council for allowing us to place it there. And thanks to Barry and Family for looking after it during the very windy weather!

The second Social Event was the
2nd Annual Gathering around the Christmas Tree on Fifield Village Green on Saturday December 21st. Over 60 people turned up - despite the dry but windy weather and competition from the Final of Strictly Come Dancing - and they enjoyed some Mulled Wine, Mince Pies and singing Carols. It was great to see so many Children come along and sing too.

The third Social Event was the
15th Annual Christmas Walk which took place on Sunday December 29th. The walk was initially started by Jenny & Charles Wigginton and Rod & Val Lord back in 1999 but it has grown in popularity and this year OGAFCA took over the organisation.

It was a perfect Day for a Walk with blue skies and sunshine. We mustered from 11:30 in the Car Park of The Fifield Inn for a Glass of Mulled Wine and a Mince Pie before setting off at 12:15 through Fields and along Footpaths to Holyport and back. The Walk took between 80 and 90 minutes - depending on how agile (or thirsty) you were! The 10 dogs that came along were well behaved and had a great time running around. After the Walk, some of us then went in to The Fifield Inn for a well deserved drink and some lunch. The Landlords Jacky and Martin very kindly donated £1 to Charity for every Meal they served. All in all, an enjoyable Event and a Tradition we must keep going!
