Easter Bank Holiday council service update

There are some changes to council services this bank holiday weekend.

From Friday 2 April, waste and recycling collections will be delayed by one day. For example, if your bins are normally collected on a Monday, they will be collected on a Tuesday instead. Normal waste collections will resume on Monday 12 April. You can find out more on our waste collection page.

Stafferton Way Household Waste and Recycling Centre is now open from 8am – 8pm, with last entry at 7.45pm. The site has been busy recently, so if you experience long queues, please try again later in the day.

Our customer service centre will be closed from Friday 2 April until Monday 5 April. Normal 9am – 5pm opening hours will resume on Tuesday 6 April.

You can also find information about local pharmacy opening hours on the Frimley Health and Care website.
Explore our Royal Borough – but don’t let your guard down

With COVID-19 restrictions starting to lift, we are supporting our local businesses and economy as we take our first steps out of lockdown.

If you, or someone you know, are a business owner, sign up to My Royal Borough’s COVID-19 reopening campaign to get access to print and social media resources to support your business.

My Royal Borough, Visit Windsor and Make Maidenhead will also be sharing and promoting local businesses that use hashtags like #RoyalBoroughIsBack and #RoyalBoroughUnlocked on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Resources are also available to help you reopen your business safely, including actions you can take right now if you can’t welcome customers quite yet.

To learn more, visit the My Royal Borough website.
£10,000 awarded to local youth projects

Our Youth Ambassadors have awarded £10,000 in funding to youth projects throughout the borough.

Applications were submitted to the Youth Voice Youth Choice funding scheme earlier this year. The scheme, which has been running for 16 years, saw applicants aged between eight and 19, or up to 25 years old if they have a learning disability, apply for funding to support an individual or group youth project in the borough.

Among the successful applicants were youth groups The Old Windsor Tigers Football Club who received £650 for new equipment to use once training resumes, and WildSL6 who received £780 to deliver four wildflower workshops with pupils from Furze Platt Senior School, Maidenhead.

Charitable groups could also apply for the funding, including Windsor Horse Rangers who received £1,500 towards the cost of purchasing a new weight carrying master horse.

To learn more, visit Achieving for Children’s website or contact Elaine Keating, youth engagement officer.

The service, which will be provided by adult social care and support service Optalis, will be held at Boyn Grove Community Resources Centre, Maidenhead.

It will provide specialist employment support, job coaching, guidance, training and support into paid employment, for people with learning disabilities and autism.

COVID-19 Royal Borough Memory Box

To reflect and record the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on our community, the Windsor & Royal Borough Museum has launched The Royal Borough Memory Box.

This historic project needs you to contribute your photographs, videos, artwork, stories and any items that represent your personal experiences of life during the pandemic and in lockdown.

To get involved with this unique opportunity, visit the Royal Borough Memory Box website to donate your memories via the online form.

To learn more about what you can put into the Memory Box, take a look at the flyer.

If you have any questions, please email museum@rbwm.gov.uk.
Share your experiences of local health and social care services

Healthwatch Windsor, Ascot and Maidenhead want to know about your experiences and views of local health and care services as part of its What Matters Most survey.

Your feedback will help the group to collect positive and negative experiences of residents from across the borough which will form a report that will be shared with those who can help improve these services.

To take part and learn more about the survey, visit the Healthwatch Windsor, Ascot and Maidenhead website, before the Friday 30 April deadline.

You can also call 0300 0120184 to speak with a member of the Healthwatch team who will help you complete the survey.

Please share this survey with your friends, family and colleagues so that a more accurate picture of our local health and social care services can be created.
