Work starts on new crossings in Norfolk Park

On Monday, work began on the first of three new crossings at junctions in Norfolk Park, Maidenhead after residents backed proposals to help prioritise pedestrians and reduce the speed limit to 20mph on surrounding roads.

The project, part of our plans for a cleaner, greener and safer borough, will introduce a pavement-style ramp at each intersection that allows people on foot to keep walking and slows down turning vehicles.

Share your views on updates to our Housing Allocations Scheme

We’re consulting on plans to update our local Housing Allocations Scheme, that we use to decide how available social housing is provided for those who need it.

We want to hear your views on proposed changes to eligibility for social housing, the support for care leavers and improved definitions of each of the housing register bands used to make decisions.

Have your say on our RBWM Together page or visit your local library to request a paper copy of the consultation documents before 16 January 2025.

Clocks go back this Sunday

This Sunday, the clocks will go back an hour, signalling the start of darker afternoons and evenings.

While it is an exciting time with Halloween and Diwali just around the corner, we know that some residents may also be concerned about any anti-social behaviour.

Our Community Wardens have been working with local retailers and will be taking part in joint patrols with officers from Thames Valley Police next Thursday 31 October to support safe celebrations.

You can read more information about how to report different types of anti-social behaviour on our website or by calling our Community Safety team on 01628 685636.

Complete our Youth Activities Survey

We’re asking families and young people to complete a short survey to help us ensure that there are a wide range of affordable and accessible activities for young people between 13-19 years old across the borough.

The survey can also be filled out by families including young adults up to 25 years old with learning difficulties or disabilities. All young people who complete the survey will be offered the chance to win one of three £20 Amazon vouchers.

Your answers will be used by Achieving for Children’s Family Hub Service to help map the existing activities that are available for young people, identify any gaps and continue to work with partners to provide and improve activities across the borough.

Include your views by Friday, 22 November.

Cabinet to consider recovery plan following independent review of finances

A challenging recovery plan to improve the borough’s finances will be considered by our Cabinet at their next meeting on Wednesday 30 October, following an expert review on the council’s finances by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA).

The review makes clear that tough decisions will need to be taken, and additional government support granted, for the council’s financial situation to improve.

Significant action has been taken by the council’s new administration and senior leadership team over the past 18 months to make savings, transform services and generate income, including formal discussions with the government about additional support that have been on-going since May this year.
