Council sets balanced budget for 2025/26

Our budget for 2025/26 has been agreed, following approval at the meeting of the Council on 5 March.

Aiming to rectify historical issues, start to rebuild capacity in essential front-line services, and respond to increases in demand-led pressures in social care and housing services - the spending plans of £132m for the next financial year are an increase of £34m against the current year’s budget and includes savings of £6m from transforming services.

The budget also includes £103m in exceptional support from government.

Read our news story or visit our FAQ page that explains what exceptional financial support is and how it will impact on services.

Girls empowerment day

Our Girls' Forum will be marking this year's International Women's Day on Saturday 8 March with a special Girl's Empowerment Day featuring guest speakers, discussion forums and creative workshops on the theme of advocating for changes for young people with disabilities.

Join us from 2pm to 5pm at The Old Court on St Leonards Road, Windsor or contact our Girls' Forum for more information about how you can get involved!

Enhanced bus services from April

Residents will benefit from new bus services and additional stops at key locations from 6 April, after we awarded new contracts for local bus services to Carousel buses and Thames Valley Buses

Updates to 13 routes that we support will boost access to health and leisure, schools, businesses and retail across the borough, following your feedback - encouraging more people to take the bus as part of a healthier lifestyle that protects the environment.

You can see the updated timetables and borough map on our Bus routes page

Windsor Leisure Centre decarbonisation project

Renovations are underway to improve efficiency and cut carbon emissions at Windsor Leisure Centre.

The upgrades, that include state-of-the art new heating and ventilation systems, are led by Leisure Energy as Principal Contractor on behalf of the council and will provide a more sustainable and economical building as part of our commitment to a cleaner and greener borough.

The £6.3m project, the majority of which is funded by a successful bid for £5.4 million through the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme, is one of the largest grants awarded for a single site in the country, and is projected to save the council over £100,000 a year in utility costs.
