Celebrate VE Day in the borough
We’re encouraging communities to come together with friends, family and neighbours to celebrate 80 years since Victory in Europe (VE Day) this May.
The historic anniversary, commemorating the end of World War II in Europe in 1945, will see celebrations planned across the country on May Day bank holiday Monday 5 May, starting four days of national events until VE day on 8 May.
VE Day street parties
A number of street parties will be taking place across the Royal Borough on Monday 5 May, with the council's support. We encourage residents to get involved to celebrate this milestone.
Party-goers can send photos to Communications@RBWM.gov.uk for a chance to be featured on the council's social media channels.
VE Day road closures
There will be temporary road closures happening on the day to facilitate street parties, find more information below under 'local travel updates'.

Cabinet approval to give green light to regeneration of Windsor Yards
Plans to regenerate Windsor Yards Shopping Centre have taken a big step forward following the Royal Borough’s Cabinet approving a deal to get the plans off paper and going at their meeting on Wednesday 30 April.
By approving the sale of the freehold to current leaseholders UREF LP, the Cabinet has broken the stalemate situation of the historical agreement that had meant proceeding with the development was ‘unviable and unlikely to ever proceed’.
This now means that plans to strengthen the vibrancy and economic growth of Windsor, that include a boutique cinema, enhanced retail space, a hotel, office space and homes, can start.

Share your views in our assistive technology survey
We’re holding survey on how our residents use assistive technology, as part of a larger project supporting unpaid carers.
This includes technology products or systems that help people with disabilities, limited mobility or other impairments to carry out tasks that might otherwise be too difficult, for example; remote monitoring gadgets, video consultations with doctors, and smart tools that help people manage their health at home.
The survey, jointly held with Slough Borough Council and Bracknell Forest Council, will help us to understand how assisted technology is currently used
Have your say until Monday 9 June
