Carers Week

We’re delighted to celebrate Carers Week 2025 and thank unpaid carers across the borough for all the important and impactful work they do throughout the year. The theme for 2025 is Caring about Equality, recognising the inequalities carers face and highlighting their rights and the support available.

We held three events across the borough this week - photos of which are on the Carers Week RBWM Together page

The page also has advice, stories and case studies, highlighting  how timely support, practical advice, and a listening ear can make a world of difference.

Climate Impact Report published

Significant progress towards a cleaner greener and more sustainable borough has been made according to the Climate Impact Report, as it sets out the accomplishments and targets achieved as part of the Environment and Climate Strategy.

Many impactful projects have been financed by national funding and the Carbon Offset Fund, a ring-fenced fund established to secure contributions from developers to deliver carbon reduction projects. This includes a low-carbon heating system at the Guildhall, solar panels at Braywick Nature Centre, and energy improvements at Windsor Leisure Centre.

Helping Royal Ascot to run smoothly for everyone

Royal Ascot is next week and we’re once again providing support to help this large and prestigious event in our borough to run smoothly. We’re working closely with organisers at the racecourse, Thames Valley Police and other partners to help ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable time, and the impact on our wider community is appropriately managed.

Taking place from Tuesday 17 June to Saturday 21 June, the horse racing festival will bring thousands of visitors to Ascot Racecourse over the five days.

If you’re in the Ascot area next week, please be aware that event organisers will have temporary traffic management in place from Tuesday to Saturday. Visit the Ascot website for details.

Early bin collections next week

Due to the higher temperatures forecast next week, our bin crews are starting their collections from 6am on Tuesday 17 June and Wednesday 18 June.

Please ensure your bin is out ready for the earlier collection. Starting and finishing earlier means they can avoid the worst of the heat.

Roll into wellbeing

To celebrate National Bike Week, we’re highlighting how two wheels does wonders for your body and mind even if you’re just nipping to your local school, popping to friends, doing the school run or rolling with the kids at weekends.

You can also cycle along the borough’s 36 miles of bridleways and restricted byways and download bridleway maps or find quieter urban routes

For guided rides for all abilities and bike repairs, check out the Windsor Cycle Hub plus there’s also the Maidenhead Cycle Hub

The Stovell Road Cycling Parking hub in Windsor offers a secure and reliable way to store your bike.

And we also offer Bikeability skills for life to our borough early years and primary school children.
