Could solar panels be an option for your home?

A green energy scheme helping residents and businesses generate renewable energy through solar panels, cutting energy costs and carbon footprint, is now open for applications.

We've once again joined forces with neighbouring councils to group bid for cheaper installation of solar panels through Solar Together. A resident or business owner, with permission from the property owner to install the panels, can now register until Friday 8 August.

Keep your cool this weekend

Another tip is to also keep your curtains or blinds closed on the side of your home where the sun is shining into - to help keep the heat out.

If you can, do check in on your vulnerable loved ones and neighbours so see if they need a helping hand.

The current Amber Heat Health Alert issued by the Met Office and UKHSA is due to end at 9am on Monday (23 June). Visit NHS Frimley’s keeping cool website for more health advice in hot weather.

Walk-in Cervical Screening Clinic in Ascot on Monday

If you’re a woman, transgender/ non-binary with a cervix, and aged 25 to 64, NHS Frimley Health and Care invites you to a screening clinic at Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot, on 23 June, from 9am and 4pm.

Cervical cancer is the most common cancer in UK women under 35. Two women die each day from the disease yet nearly 100% of cases are preventable.

Formerly known as the smear test, it’s one of the most effective ways to prevent cervical cancer. It takes only minutes to do with friendly gynaecology nurses on hand to support you.

Volunteering at Braywick

We recently welcomed Centrica for a corporate volunteering session, hosted at Ockwells Park.

Cllr Karen Davies, Cabinet Member for Climate Change, Biodiversity & Windsor Town Council, visited the helpful volunteers on Monday, where she saw the group removing guards on newly planted trees in time for summer.

We welcome corporate groups for volunteering at our nature sites throughout the year to ensure careful nurturing of new plants, wildlife and the wider environment. Interested individuals are also encouraged to get in touch to view other nature conservation opportunities.
