Preparing for the state visit
The President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, and his wife, Mrs Brigitte Macron, will visit Windsor, under invite from the King, from Tuesday 8 July to Thursday 10 July.
Colleagues across the council have been working with partners, including Thames Valley Police, the Crown Estate and government, on preparations and to minimise disruption to those that live and work in, or plan to visit Windsor.
Our webpage will be updated with useful information on plans and council services that may be impacted during the visit.

Supported living homes set to take a step forward
Plans to create new homes in Windsor to support residents with learning disabilities live more independently and reduce the borough’s reliance on costly care placements is set to take a step forward when the Cabinet meet to discuss this next week.
The report recommends developing 22 supported-living homes on council-owned land at Imperial Road and, if approved by Cabinet, will enable the council to begin the process of selecting a registered housing provider to build and manage the scheme.
The project supports the council’s commitment to helping residents live healthy, independent lives in their own communities. It also forms part of the wider strategy to deliver high-quality adult social care and reduce long-term costs by providing more local housing options for people who need lifelong support.

Honouring Armed Forces this week
To mark this year’s Armed Forces Week, a special flag was raised at Maidenhead Town Hall in a short ceremony on Monday 23 June.
The Mayor, Cllr Brar, gave a speech with Revd Ian Millar from St Mary’s Borough Church leading prayers. There were representatives and veterans from the 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards, Maidenhead Sea Cadets, Royal British Legion, Royal Marines Association and the Windsor and Maidenhead Community Forum. Council colleagues and residents also attended.
The Armed Forces Flag will stay in place for the week to honour the Armed Forces, past and present.

Following the publication of the Climate Impact Report, our team are working on the Environment and Climate Change Strategy 2026-2030. Amber heat health alert
The Met Office and UKHSA amber heat health alert started at midday on Friday 27 June and is due to last until 6pm on Tuesday 1 July.
Amber alerts mean the heat can affect everyone, not just the elderly and young children. If possible, check in on your vulnerable loved ones and neighbours.
Visit NHS Frimley’s keeping cool website for more health advice in hot weather
Bin collections
Due to the higher temperatures forecast, our bin crews will be starting their collections at 6am until Tuesday 8 July.
Please ensure your bin is out ready for the earlier collection. Starting and finishing earlier means they can avoid the worst of the heat.

Hearing Loops at council meetings
We strive to make our council meetings accessible for all residents. If you are attending an in-person meeting, and have challenges with hearing, we have hearing loops available to improve the sound quality of our meetings.
The hearing loops are stored in the charging docking station (as seen above) and are ready to be used, they do not require hearing aids, the device automatically tunes into the meeting’s audio feed.
If you would like to use a hearing loop when present at a Council meeting, please arrive ten minutes before the meeting, so a Democratic Services Officer can assist.
