Share your views in our consultation to protect people, property and wildlife from catapults

We want your feedback on a new proposal to introduce a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) that restricts the carrying of catapults. This follows a number of instances of violence against wildlife, damage to property and threats of harm to people.

If introduced, this PSPO would give police officers and community wardens the power to challenge and fine anyone found carrying a catapult or slingshot – along with stones, pellets or ball bearings – with the intention of harming people, property or wildlife.

Major transformation of housing services to reduce costs and tackle homelessness

Our Cabinet have agreed a major transformation of housing services to tackle homelessness and reduce reliance on costly temporary accommodation.

At a meeting on Tuesday 25 November, Cabinet agreed to invest to reshape the service to meet the homelessness challenges which all councils are facing. The investment comes through a boost to the budget and money from sale of assets.

Helping to address a lack of capacity in the housing team, compared to similar councils, this investment will rebuild capacity, modernise outdated processes and increase local housing options.

Come along to the Desborough Park drop in event

We're running a drop in event at Larchfield Community Centre, SL6 4BB, on Thursday 4 December from 3pm to 6.30pm regarding an important project to mitigate surface water flood risk to properties in Oldfield and Cox Green wards.

The Desborough Park Flood Alleviation Scheme, previously titled Brill Close, aims to store storm water temporarily, using a storage basin at Desborough Park, to reduce flood risk to infrastructure and properties, before slowly releasing it back into the storm water pipes over time.

At the event, our officers will share the details set out in the planning application and you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the scheme.
