Happy New Year!

We hope you enjoyed a wonderful Christmas period and a bright, joyful start to the New Year.

We’re looking forward to working together in the year ahead to continue making our borough an even better place to live, work, and enjoy. Wishing you and your loved ones a healthy, happy and hopeful year ahead.

Make a healthy start to 2026!

As we welcome a new year, there’s no better time to focus on your health and wellbeing. Our local leisure centres offer a wide range of facilities, classes, and activities for all ages and abilities — perfect whether you’re starting your fitness journey or looking to take it to the next level.

This year, we’re especially excited to highlight the Braywick Club, a brand‑new, state‑of‑the‑art fitness and wellbeing space at Braywick Leisure Centre.

Find out more about our leisure centres and explore what’s on offer at: www.leisurefocus.org.uk.

Recycle your real Christmas Tree

If you had a real Christmas tree this year, you can recycle it by taking it to one our Christmas tree collection points around the borough between Monday 5 January and Monday 12 January.

If you have a garden waste subscription service, you can also chop up your tree and place it in your green bin for collection when it resumes on Monday 12 January. If your tree does not fit into the bin, or you do not have a subscription, you can take it to your nearest household recycling centre.

Please do not leave your tree next to your bin as our crews will not be able to collect it.

Remember to check your collection days

We’re reminding residents that bin and waste collection days will be on an amended schedule until Monday 19 January - read more via our holiday collection dates webpage.

Please put your bin or sack on the kerbside before 7am on collection day and no earlier than the night before.

Cold Health Alert - check in on your loved ones

UKHSA has issued an Amber Cold Health Alert for the south east which is due to run until 10am on Friday 9 January.

An amber alert means the icy weather is likely to significantly affect health and social care, roads and vulnerable people living independently. So, if you can, check in on loved ones and neighbours as they may need extra support.

For more advice, see UKHSA’s tips on keeping safe and warm during cold weather.

SWEP activated

Due to the freezing temperatures, our Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) is in place, meaning we’re providing emergency shelter to anyone found sleeping rough in the borough.

Discounted parking fees trial returns

Discounted car parking in Windsor and Eton has returned in the second phase of a trial scheme.

The trial will run from 2 January to 31 March and aims to support local businesses by offering discounted car parking for stays between two and five hours at Alexandra Gardens Car Park, King Edward VII Car Park and Meadow Lane Car Park.

Wraysbury Parish Council by-election

a by-election will take place on Thursday 8 January from 7am to 10pm at Wraysbury Village Hall, TW19 5NA.
