Stafferton Way Car Park set to reopen following major investment

Stafferton Way Car Park in Maidenhead is set to reopen on Monday 12 October following a significant programme of investment to improve security, safety and overall environment for customers.

Improvements include a new CCTV network, energy-efficient lighting replacements, repainting of parking bay markers and more.

New grounds maintenance contract starts across the Royal Borough

Residents across the Royal Borough are set to benefit from improved grounds maintenance services as Glendale begins its new contract with the council.

As well as maintaining parks, open spaces, sports pitches, cemeteries, play areas and highway verges, the contract includes stronger performance monitoring, greater transparency through online work programmes and reporting, and investment in local jobs and apprenticeships.

The new service also places a strong focus on sustainability, with commitments to reduce carbon emissions and support the council’s ambition for a cleaner, greener borough.

Greenlight for Royal Borough's Local Area Partnerships SEND reform

The Royal Borough's Local SEND Reform Plan has been approved by the Department

of Education (DfE), setting out a 'clear and coherent' roadmap to improve support for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

The reform plan sets out how over the next three years the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead will support stronger mainstream inclusion, earlier intervention and improved outcomes for children and young people within a more sustainable SEND system.

State Visit to take place in Windsor

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Sultan of Oman, has accepted an invitation from His Majesty The King to pay a state visit to the United Kingdom from Tuesday 20 October to Thursday 22 October 2026.

Their Majesties The King and Queen will host the state visit at Windsor Castle.

To support this state visit, the Royal Borough is working with Thames Valley Police, the Royal Household and other key partners to minimise disruption to those that live and work in, or plan to visit, Windsor.

Takeover Day at RBWM!

The Royal Borough and Achieving for Children are inviting young people aged 13 to 18 to join the team for a day on Tuesday 24 November. They’ll get an inside look at some of the teams in the council, join a professional setting and possibly even join a council meeting! The deadline to apply is Friday 6 November.

Get involved in Climate Action Conversations this November

Take part in Climate Action Conversations this November, a series of events exploring some of the biggest climate and environmental challenges facing the borough.

Hosted by the RBWM Climate Partnership CIC, the events are a chance to explore how community action can have an impact on climate challenges in nature, energy, travel and waste. There will be panel discussions, practical workshops, networking opportunities and information stalls designed to help turn ideas into community action.

Community groups can also express an interest in hosting a stall to showcase their work, share ideas and connect with others.

Windsor glow ride

Join Windsor Cycle Hub’s glow ride next Thursday 22 October, from 6.30 to 8pm, for a gentle loop from The Swan in Clewer to Windsor Castle as the town lights up after dark.

The free event for adults and children is part of the national ‘My ride Our right’ campaign for safer streets, especially for women riding after dark. Experienced riders will be on hand throughout and men are also more than welcome to join in.
