Wow! What a day we had! Perfect weather and a perfect afternoon’s entertainment. The star of the show, as always, was the steam train, circling the showground, filled each time with waving crowds. All of usual friends were there: Mr Chris with his traditional Punch & Judy show, Mr Muggle with his magical mayhem, Anna Nightingale to serenade us and our ever-popular dog show. We also had a gun dog demonstration and, new for this year, a musical mats tournament for dogs. You have to see it to believe it!! This year we featured Berkshire Birds of Prey. Several birds were on display and for a small fee could be held and photographed. Other attractions included bungee jumping, kiddie car racing, a roundabout and the old-fashioned swing boats. With games stalls and craft stalls there was something for everyone. The only worry was that, once again, we had a visit from Darth Vader and his Stormtroopers who were trying to gain converts to the “Dark Side”. We had a record attendance this year with over 1,000 visitors, some coming from the North of England just for the day. We will be sending cheques for £2,500 to each of our nominated charities; the Holyport Community Trust and the Thames Valley Air Ambulance. The Fun Day next year will take place on SUNDAY 6TH AUGUST 2023 Put the date in your diaries.
