The RBWM have agreed to fund a Community Speed Watch Pack which is to be made available to all the Neighbourhood Action Groups (NAGs) within the Royal Borough. The scheme enables volunteers to work within their community to raise awareness of the dangers of speeding and to help control the problem.
It incorporates poster campaigns and a pledge system linked to direct action using radar speed guns and Vehicle Activated Signs, all under the supervision of the County Council. The use of the radar devices will not lead to prosecution - drivers caught speeding will not be prosecuted but will get a letter from the local police, which will help to underline the community’s commitment to reducing speed.
Members of the Roads & Transport Work Group will be volunteering to “man” the operation in Fifield, Oakley Green and District.
But we do need more volunteers. Full training will be given.
